So I drove to the store and bought non-fat cheese, which tasted pretty good. The lasagne was a hit at the potluck. Everyone was asked to put the ingredients list with their dish, because lots of vegetarians and people with food allergies attend. I forgot to put a list on my dish, but it was gone in 15 minutes. I guess it wasn't much of an issue.

Lilith in San Francisco wrote to let me know that you can use vegetable broth in the mashed potatoes instead of olive oil, which I thought was a brilliant plan. Olive oil still rates high on the fat content, so I imagine veggie broth would be a good alternative. The thing to watch out for with broth is the sodium content, though if you make your own it isn't as much of an issue.

Quiet weekend

I had a good weekend, even if it was a bit quiet. I didn't go for the anticipated walk with Al because it was windy and stormy outside (I'm not a good pagan I guess...heheheh), and I didn't feel like being cold. So we stayed inside, drank tea, chatted and read for awhile. The electricty cut but thank God I have solar panels so the lights were on the whole time. I did my required reading for my class, and read most of my book about Elizabeth I. Stephen and I ended up not going out either, because there was a cool documentary about Voodoo on television, during which I fell asleep. I crashed out on the couch for a couple hours. It was just a lazy sort of weekend, which is good once in awhile. However we did visit the Movieland Wax Museum very briefly just to see if his little sister was still working or not. She didn't need a lift so we left.

Al and I worked for awhile Friday night on our book idea. We got an outline pretty much hammered out, so we're now faced with actually doing the necessary research. It's a book that has to be brief about everything, unless we want to turn it into a 400 page tome. Regardless of how short the sections have to be, I want them to be well researched and well written. It's going to take a bit of work. Sorry, I'm not going to go into detail about the book here....it's a secret. *grin*Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
